Farrah’s relationship journal

Love,
Out Loud.

Things I feel but don’t say.

The affection. The frustration. The desire. The parts of love we struggle to admit—even to ourselves. I’m opening up the conversation, one honest entry at a time.

Sometimes I act unbothered because admitting you hurt me feels too damn vulnerable.

I want to say, “That bothered me.” Instead, I change my tone. Get short with you. Suddenly, I’m busy.

Then you ask what’s wrong.

“Nothing.”

But there’s a whole conversation happening in my head.

Would you have noticed if I hadn’t pulled away? Am I asking for too much? Why am I embarrassed to admit I need reassurance from someone I love?

Here’s the part that’s hard to write: sometimes I want you to keep asking. I say I’m fine, then feel hurt when you believe me.

I want closeness, but I make you work through my silence to get to me.

Maybe I’m afraid I’ll tell you exactly where it hurts and you’ll shrug. Then I won’t have the comfort of thinking, Maybe you just didn’t know.

So I keep it inside. Let a small hurt turn into a cold evening.

What I wanted to say was simple:

“That hurt my feelings. Can we talk before I turn it into something bigger?”

A space for men · Farrahlovesight

His Side,
Out Loud.

There’s room for your feelings here, too.

Being an engaged woman makes me want to hear both sides of love. This space is for men’s perspectives on affection, trust, desire, commitment, and the words that are hard to say. I’ll also share my fiancé’s perspective as we bring those conversations here.

An imagined male perspective · A conversation starter

Let me in, even when it’s hard.

I notice when your “I’m fine” sounds different. The answers get shorter. You’re right next to me, but it feels like you’re somewhere I can’t reach.

I want to ask again, but I don’t want to push. So sometimes I get quiet too, and we both end up feeling alone.

If I’m the one who hurt you, I need to be able to hear that without turning it into an argument. I’m learning to listen without getting defensive or rushing to explain what I meant.

But I need to stop guessing, too. I can tell something changed. I can’t always tell you why.

Baby, tell me what hurt. Even if the words come out messy. Even if all you can say is, “I need a minute, but I do want to talk.”

And I can ask, “Do you want me to listen, hold you, or give you a little space?” Then actually respect your answer.

I want us to be able to have an uncomfortable conversation and still feel close afterward. I want you to feel safe being honest with me.

Do you open up—or go quiet when something hurts?

Opening reflection · October 6, 20261-minute read

I want to feel appreciated, too.

Sometimes I want to hear that you’re proud of me. I don’t always know how to ask for that.

I can tell you what needs fixing around the house. Telling you I’ve been doubting myself takes a little longer.

When you ask how my day went, sometimes I say, “It was alright.” There might be more I could tell you. A disappointment. Something I worked hard on that didn’t go the way I hoped.

I want to know I can tell you those things and still be someone you respect.

But I have a part in this, too. If I keep saying I’m alright, I can’t expect you to hear everything I haven’t said.

Maybe I can start smaller: “Today was rough. Can you sit with me for a minute?”

And maybe, when something goes well, I can let you celebrate it with me instead of brushing it off.

I’d like to feel appreciated. I’m learning to let you see the person who needs it.

What do you wish your partner noticed—and how could you tell them?

Your side belongs in the conversation. Come back for more reflections on being loved, showing up, and saying what you need. Every man has his own experience; this is a place to make room for those differences.
